The Spiritual Care Brochure can be printed in the organisation and provided to nursing, allied health, case management, lifestyle, personal care, and support staff, and volunteers. It is a useful resource to support new staff and volunteer induction processes, and as an adjunct to the Spiritual Care Orientation Program.
(Please include your organisation’s spiritual/pastoral care contact details in the box provided, and print double-sided on the short edge to create an A5 booklet).
Spiritual Care – an Integral Part of Caring – developed by Meaningful Ageing Australia for our members – is a 45 minute introduction course intended to be part of the regular workplace orientation of your organisation for new staff. It aims to support the professional competence of staff in recognising and responding to the spiritual needs of older people in their care, within the context of their ongoing roles. It discusses, amongst other things, what spirituality is and why it is relevant to their role and spirituality in the workplace, and includes two real-life examples.
Now in use by many organisations across Australia, we continue to get positive feedback about its impact on staff members’ perceptions of their role and understanding of spiritual care.
