Description
In accessing Akira’s story through a smart-device or desktop computer, PCAs will see familiar scenarios presented which allow them to learn through the character’s experiences. By understanding their role within the story, they will also gain an understanding of spiritual care which is natural and easy. It will become easy to see that small gestures can have a big impact, and that they can notice the things they do naturally as being important aspects of spiritual care. All they need is internet access and the special link.
Meet Akira has been developed using a co-design process with personal carers and older people; as well as with input from our Reference Group:
- Baptistcare WA
- Fresh Hope
- Hall and Prior
- UnitingCare QLD
- Brightwater
- Prof. John Swinton, University of Aberdeen
- Dr. Richard Egan, University of Otago
Meet Akira was launched at our 2020 AGM, and is now available to members at no additional cost. Visit our YouTube channel to watch an Introduction to Meet Akira
Thinking about implementation? Whilst it looks and feels like an app, Meet Akira is technically a website that is designed for mobile first. This makes it much easier for organisations to implement. We can supply you with a custom link that you can text or email to your staff.
There are two ways of accessing Meet Akira:
- Ask for a bespoke web link for for your organisation. As a member organisation, your unique link licenses your organisation to access and use Meet Akria. This link will be for your organisation only, and can be used by anyone. You can distribute it by text or email to all your colleagues.
- Download the Meet Akira SCORM files for integrating into your organisation’s LMS (Learning Management System). These files not only provide access to Meet Akira, but also provide a short follow-up quiz too.
