To help older people and their loved ones communicate and build stronger bonds, Meaningful Ageing Australia has partnered with KinSnap, an Australian start up. KinSnap provides a unique way for older people to receive a personal, printed, monthly journal delivered to their home, in their language.
Currently in use by a select group of Meaningful Ageing member organisations, we are now providing an opportunity for more older people to benefit from what KinSnap has to offer.
Aged care services can access KinSnap via Meaningful Ageing Australia by filling in the expression of interest form below. In addition, member organisations can access a special offer of one free personalised journal per person.
How does it work?
Registered users from the one family or group upload photos and stories into a private account. This is then used by KinSnap to automatically create a printed monthly journal for the older person that is delivered to their home.
The personalised journal (see a sample here) contains large, clear photos and stories. The person who receives the journal feels connected to loved ones spread across the state, Australia or the world. They can also use it as a topic of discussion to share (and show off) with friends and carers. It can be a great talking point on video calls and can act as a memory prompt.
Families and friends contribute by joining a private account. They upload photos via an app on their phone or by logging into their account on their computer. Photos from fun times and events, day to day life, your cat/ dog, memories – all these are a great way to ensure their loved one feels included and connected.
Using the app is simpler than most existing social networks. Content is only visible in the designated KinSnap group. All data is securely encrypted, and stored in Australia to the highest quality standards. Unlike large public social media applications, KinSnap does not provide your data to third parties or advertise to any users or the journal recipient.
We look forward to helping to build stronger connections across all generations of loved ones, through KinSnap.
