This organisational collaboration will look at the role of intergenerational connection and programs to address social isolation and loneliness for older people.

In time for the 35th UN International Day of Older People: 1st October, 2025 this year’s theme is: Older Persons Driving Local and Global Action: Our Aspirations, Our Well-Being, Our Rights

An intergenerational panel will share their insights and experiences to address ageism and increasing social connections and role of the Elder in First Nations communities.

Background: The UN Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021–2030) seeks to reduce health inequities and improve the lives of older people, their families and communities through collective action in four areas: changing how we think, feel and act towards age and ageism; developing communities in ways that foster the abilities of older people; delivering person-centred integrated care and primary health services responsive to older people; and providing older people who need it with access to quality long-term care.

The Social Connection Series: Trailer (updated) – WHO Commission on Social Connection

The costs of social isolation and loneliness are high, but the benefits of social connection are far-reaching.

With the release of the Commission report, WHO calls on all Member States, communities and individuals to make social connection a public health priority.
