Invitation only – Stakeholder Co-Design Workshops for the national research project: Enhancing Well-being in Aged Care through Holistic, Person-Centred Spiritual Care

MFG Project Brochure

  • This project is an initiative of PhD candidate Elizabeth Pringle through Charles Sturt University, and supported by Meaningful Ageing Australia.
  • The aim of the project is to develop a Model, Framework and Guidelines (MFG) that will support the aged care sector to deliver holistic, person-centred spiritual care aligned with the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.

This research is being conducted in two stages:

– Stage 1 (current): Co-designing the draft MFG through engagement with stakeholders in two workshops. These workshops will be based on feedback from individuals living in residential aged care, families/carers, and the aged care workforce. A wider panel of stakeholders and experts reviewing the initial draft through a Delphi polls.  – Stage 2 (2026): Piloting and refining the draft MFG in selected aged care homes.

You are invited to participate in Stage 1, which includes two half-days online, independently facilitated workshops to co-design the draft MFG: (please ensure you register for both event/workshops).

📅 Workshop 1: Tuesday 16 September 2025, 9:30am–12:30pm (AEST time)

📅 Workshop 2: Tuesday 28 October 2025, 9:30am–12:30pm (AEST time)

  • Each session will be facilitated by Mosaic Lab and will include a short pre-reading pack and a summary of key insights from individuals living in residential aged care, families/carers, and staff.
  • These workshops are interactive and grounded in collaborative co-design, not passive consultation, so, participants will actively shape the structure and content of the draft MFG.

📝 These workshops are designed to be sequential, so we ask that participants commit to attending both workshops.

Why Participate?

This is your opportunity to help shape a practical, evidence-based resource that reflects the lived experience of older people and the realities of aged care delivery. As a key stakeholder, your insights will directly influence the tools that providers and staff will use to meet the new Standards.

You will also:

– Receive early access to insights from individuals living in residential aged care, their families/carers, and staff

– Contribute to real-world solutions that reflect your values and expertise

– Be acknowledged (with consent) in the draft MFG for your contribution

– Help ensure the final MFG is both visionary and practical

Mosaic’s role as facilitators:
When working with a group, a facilitator takes on a number of critical roles including:

  • To be a process guide: To provide an overall road map and detailed process tools and activities that enables participants to do their work. This means helping them to understand their task, engage with each other (a diverse group of people) on the content and to help the group come to their endpoint.
  • To create the right environment for deliberation: To provide the tools and techniques that allow people to consider a range of information, identify options, weigh up the pros and cons of options and make choices between options.
  • To be neutral: To be concerned only for the process and not to have any stake or interest in the content or the outcome.
  • To manage group dynamics: This means ensuring all participants feel they are able to fully participate i.e. to speak and be heard by others.
  • To be flexible and responsive: To respond and adapt to the group’s needs as expressed through cues (verbal, written, observed) in workshops.
  • And to stay on time!
