*PLEASE NOTE: WORKSHOP PARTICIPATION IS BY INVITATION ONLY*

Meaningful Ageing Australia, in partnership with Portable, is developing three new modules for Meet Akira, our world-leading interactive story that invites users to learn about spiritual care by engaging in familiar scenarios. Funded through the Wicking Trust’s Bring Death Back into Life initiative, these new modules will help personal care workers and others to deepen their capacity to provide compassionate, person-centred end-of-life and spiritual care.

We are inviting a small group of Personal Care Workers to join our story group that will help co-design the experience through reviewing the prototype of storylines.

What’s involved

Take part in a 2.5-hour Zoom workshop on Monday 8 December 2025, 3:00-5:30pm AEDT, whereby participants will:
  • Contribute feedback and validate the storylines of x 3 new learning modules
  • Explore and validate real-world experiences and language
  • Help shape authentic, practical scenarios Personal Care Workers will encounter
  • Ensure the stories reflect the diversity of older Australians and care contexts.

Your insights will help validate the story outlines and scripts before prototype phase of production. We recognise that availability varies and welcome participants who can commit to at least one session.

Who else will be in the workshop?

A range of Personal Care workers who are job mature (experience level of 5yrs+); Personal Care Workers who are new to the role (experience level of 1yr or less).  Meaningful Ageing Australia staff and Portable design consultants.

Cultural Safety and respect

Please be assured that our workshops will be conducted with a strong emphasis on culturally appropriate care and safety. One of our facilitators from Portable is specifically trained to manage workshops with this focus. Additionally, we recognise the sensitive nature of the workshop content (discussing death and bereavement) and want to ensure that the discussions are safe for you. If there are any specific measures we can take to enhance your comfort and safety during these conversations, please let us know.
