How well-versed are your staff in spiritual care conversations? What skills do they have to enable them to listen for the spiritual needs of older people in their care? Do they know how to respond to an older person who is wondering if their life has been meaningful?
Meaningful Ageing Australia, with the support of Carrington, has recently developed a new brochure that can be printed and provided to staff and volunteers in your organisation. The brochure describes spirituality and spiritual care, and their relationship with religion and religious care. It then outlines ways that care staff and volunteers can integrate a spiritual care approach in their ongoing work, highlighting the qualities of presence, awareness, and deep listening.
The A5 brochure is a useful resource for new staff and volunteer induction processes, and as an adjunct to the Spiritual Care Orientation Program. It can be easily printed by your organisation, and includes a text box for you to insert your local contact details.
